The course is very interesting and offers many challenges to a novice like myself. The flow of information is very large and at times it seems that I can’t keep up with everything. All the sites that we visit and the challenge of trying new things out. I think I can keep up with everything and I am not complaining. I have visited the sites and tagged them for future visits and exploration. I am enjoying the adventure and challenges that comes with this course.
So far I have used the Skype both for class and for personal enjoyment. I can now converse with my sister in Halifax and hopefully I will be able to talk to my brother overseas. The Skype conference call had a few snags getting up and running but once it did everything seemed to flow at that point. One problem with having the conference call was that I did not take notes all the topics that were discussed. Also, during the flow of discussion, I got lost following the discussion. I did not know who was saying what. People need to introduce themself before they speak because without a video feed I was unaware of who was saying what.
The idea of using a blog for this course is a great idea. It gives erveryone a chance to offer their ideas between the group in a very collaborative setting. This is a great way to share. The Del.ici.ous site is a great way for all teachers to share information. I have given the delicious site to the science and math teachers to view and some of them have expressed an interest and they would like for me to show them how to use it. This will give me a chance to explore the site further and it is an excellent wat to reinforce the learning that I experience by adding this site.
I am having some problems with coming up with an idea for the final paper in this course. If anyone has an idea to share it would be appreciated.
Just for laughs:
The hTech Support: “Do you have any windows open right now?”
Customer: “Are you crazy woman, it’s twenty below outside …”
The hounds are calling again, so it’s back to the chase.

Paper topic? How about figuring out how you would design a research project that would investigate the impact of a realtime video feed on quality of learning. You wouldn’t have to actually do the research, just discuss how you might go about it.
I have read your blog. I also like the blogs as a way of communicating. I do have to say that so far I haven’t used the Skype outside of class contacts and an unsuccessful Skypecast attempt. I have, though, recently discussed the possibility of using Skype with my son in Montreal … it turns out that we have an extra video feed in the house … who knew? I can’t help you with a paper idea … although I see that Glen can. I’m still working my way through applications. The one thing I don’t like about the blogs is the perceived need (which I do feel strongly) to respond to each one. Sometimes reading a blog is all that’s required.
Tom, I hear you about keeping up with everything. That is why I try to do a little bit each night. This way, I don’t have to spend so long trudging through everything, as well, it keeps me practicing what I have learned. I am definitely one who learns by doing, and you know what they say, if you don’t use it – you lose it!! Well, if I don’t use these tools regularly, I will forget how they work. As for the paper topic, still at a loss myself, so I’m afraid I can’t offer much support there. Sorry!
A list of possible paper topics are on the course Wiki at:

Good luck and happy writing!
