Podcasting

Thanks to Jolene and Angele for their help getting my podcast setup. I was having difficulties with the podcast and through yugma and with their help I was able to produce a shart podcast. I am still having problems with Yugma. While Jolene was the presenter on Yugma, I was able to see what she was doing but the moment that we switched the errors started to show up again. I had to shut down my computer. It seems that I can view but not host. I guess I am making progress because before I did not even have that capability.

Here is my short podcast:

  1. The podcast was very clear, I did not have any problems listening to it. The whole concept of the “digital divide” is such an interesting one, especially for you up in Thompson. I would like to hear more about it from you.

  2. Sounded great Tom. Thanks for the Yugma session, it was helpful for both of us, as I was finally able to see one in action and we were able to get your podcast up and running!! Collaboration in action! Great discussion around the limitations surrounding accessability. It was a great continuation of the our discussion on Skype this afternoon.

  3. Hi!

    This is Connie from Yugma

I’ve seen that you and some of your colleagues/classmates are using Yugma recently. I would love to meet up with you online and show you the ins and outs of Yugma. Let me know what day and time works for you! I realize that nights and weekends may be the best for you all. Let me know, I’m sure we’ll be able to work something out!

Thanks – I look forward to hearing from you.

  4. Well down Thomas O’Kelly. I’m envious, your killing me here…

Take care: I think maybe you need to sell the hounds – they’re barking all over the neighborhood.

  5. Your podcast was very clear and addressed an issue that is, I think, very prevalent in many schools. Janis has a post about the one laptop per child program on her blog that you many want to refer to.

  6. Access can be a big issue in Northern and aboriginal communities where many homes often do not have phones. It really is an inclusion issue. You cannot try high tech tools if half the class is going to be excluded because of lack of access. You really need to gauge the technological readiness of your students before engaging them with these neat tools that we have been able to use. A level playing field is essential for all students to feel they belong to a class.
